Physiotherapy for Men’s Health
Common Men’s Health
Conditions We See

- Bladder problems such as urgency, frequency, or leakage
- Bowel control issues
- Chronic pelvic pain and prostatitis-type symptoms

Men’s pelvic health conditions are more common than many people realise and can affect bladder, bowel, sexual function and day-to-day comfort. These issues can develop after surgery, injury, illness, or as part of the natural ageing process.
At Handforth Physiotherapy & Rehab, we support men dealing with these sensitive but important conditions in a professional, discreet clinical setting, with assessment and treatment tailored to the underlying cause.
Symptoms You May Experience
You may notice:

- Changes in sexual function
- Ongoing discomfort following prostate or abdominal surgery
When to Seek Help
These symptoms should not be ignored, and they are often treatable with the right support. Early assessment can help prevent symptoms worsening and improve long-term outcomes. We always recommend that you also consult with your GP for any pelvic health related complaint.
A physiotherapy-led approach can help restore function, improve control, and reduce pain — improving both physical comfort and confidence in everyday life.
Your Questions, Answered.
Can’t find what your looking for?
Do I need to be referred by my surgeon or GP?
No – you can book directly. If you have your operation notes or post-surgery instructions, it’s helpful to bring them along.
When should I start physiotherapy after surgery?
This depends on the type of surgery. Some people begin within days, while others start after a short rest period. Your programme will always follow what is safe for your stage of healing.
Will treatment be painful?
Rehabilitation should feel controlled and safe. You may feel some tightness or muscle effort, but everything is kept within comfortable and appropriate limits.
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated.
